Info to Endurance Riders

THE NEW FEI EMIRATES ENDURANCE WORLD MASTERS
Dear Endurance Enthusiasts all over the World,
Maybe that you have already heard about it ! Like for example in gulf or in
tennis, from now on Endurance will have their Masters Series as well.
Who created the Masters and when will they take place ?
Created by Ambassador Endurance Management Paris, in collaboration with the
FEI and the UAE Equestrian & Racing Federation, the FEI Emirates Endurance
World Masters will take place every two years, starting in 2002, then going
on in 2004 and so on.
Which are the rides that count towards the Masters ?
The Masters Calendar will consist of around 30 - 40 specially selected
rides, over distances from 120 - 130 km, taking place all over the world.
The selection criteria for the participating events is based on the number
of international CEI's held in a certain country or region during the
previous year, so for 2002, the number of rides held in 2001 serve as a
basis. According to the propositions of the selected NFs, Ambassador
Endurance Management in collaboration with the FEI Endurance Committee will
the choose the rides that will be included in the calendar.
Who can participate in the FEI Emirates Endurance World Masters ?
Basically every Endurance rider of an age of 18 and above in the world who
is competing on an international level has the right to participate in the
Masters. By sending his application form to Ambassador Endurance Management
he will be entered into the list of participating riders and therefore, when
achieving points during Masters rides, enter into the respective
classifications as well.
How does the points system of the Masters work ?
The Masters points system is very similar to the one used in the FEI
Emirates Endurance Worldwide Rankings: so according to their final placing
in a certain competition riders will get basic points and additional points
according to the number of finishers in this ride.
Out from the Masters Calendar the participating riders may choose a maximum
of 10 Masters rides at which they want to compete.
For the final classification will count the best three results achieved in
these rides. Into the final classifications will enter all those riders who
within their best three results have accumulated a minimum total of 225
points.
How will the classifications be established ?
There will be 5 different geographical zones for which classifications will
be established :
Ø Europe
Ø North-America and Canada
Ø South-America
Ø Australia and New Zealand
Ø Asia (United Arab Emirates and Middle East)
For all 5 zones there will be a separate classification. The rider's
nationality is the basis to evaluate to which zone he or she belongs. Of
course riders may participate at Masters rides in other zones, and their
results will count for the classification in their zone.
At the end of the Masters year, the one rider having achieved the highest
total of points of all zones will be the CONTINENTAL CHAMPION (and of course
in the same time he is Champion of his Zone). The winners of the other four
zones will be the ZONE CHAMPIONS. In addition there will be CHAMPIONS BY
POINTS. The champions by points are the three best placed riders within
their zone (including the Continental and Zone champions of course, and
still under the condition that they have reached the minimum total of 225
points).
All Continental and Zone Champions as well as the Champions by Points (so a
maximum number of 15 riders) will then be invited to compete at the FEI
Endurance World Cup, taking place in the month of March in the year
following the Masters year, so for the first time in 2003.
What are the conditions to become the WORLD ENDURANCE MASTER ?
The World Endurance Master will be crowned during the FEI Endurance World
Cup. The conditions to compete for the title are the following:
Ø Riders must have been the winner of three of their Masters rides
Ø Even riders not having achieved their minimum total of 225 points, but
having won three Masters rides will be invited to compete for the title.
Ø To be titled WORLD ENDURANCE MASTER, the one rider will have to win the
FEI Endurance World Cup as well.
Which are the possibilities for the other riders participating at the FEI
Endurance World Cup ?
During the FEI Endurance World Cup, for the 15 participating Continental and
Zone Champions and the Champions by Points, besides the basic classification
and prize money fo the World Cup, there will be an additional, separate
classification.
What are the awards and the prize money ?
In total there will be a price money of US$ 1'500'000.-- which will be
distributed as follows:
Ø US$ 1'000'000.-- together with a trophy will go to the WORLD ENDURANCE
MASTER (of course in addition to the normal prize money won during the FEI
Emirates Endurance World Cup)
Ø US$ 500'000.-- will be distributed as follows:
o Continental Champion: Prize Money and Trophy
o Zone Champions: Prize Money and Trophies
o Champions by Points: Prize Money and Trophies
o Prize Money and Trophies for all riders being placed in the separate
classification during the FEI Endurance World Cup (of course in addition to
